Battery Cables

The cables for my 1st gen are holding up nicely. But now I need a set for my 01 2nd gen. Anyone know the length of the cables? I'll have Polar Wire in Anchorage make me up a set.

Ordered a set 2/0 through Custom Cables for $500. Soonest I can get them installed is late February. In the meantime, I did a temporary fix. Getting enough juice to the starter now to turn it over.

I just buy good brass terminals and use welding lead wire. Never have to replace.

I make my own too. Bulk cable and crimp lugs. Various terminals to clamp onto lead battery posts.

Hydraulic hex crimpers are cheap nowadays.

Cougar, could you describe what made you go with Custom Cables vs. Polar Wire?

I need new cables for my grid heaters, and I'm trying to figure out where to go.

Just to be clear, I don't think many folks have the ability to get hydraulic hex crimpers nowadays. Most of us need to look to contractors for that kind of thing.

Thanks,
Mike

I stand corrected! I would not have guessed that.

Thanks!

Polar wire's prices nearly doubled sense I bought the set for my 1st gen and their lead time was 6 weeks. And they are local! I needed them now. The Custom Cables set I got in less than a week for $450. They are being installed today along with some other aux wiring repair. They are also installing a new muffler. That straight pipe was getting to me. I would have done it myself if I had a place to do it and had full use of my hands.
