Optima Battery in 1st gen?

Anyone here running an Optima battery in their first gen? If so, did you go with the red top or the yellow top?
I just picked up a red top at Pep Boy's. Didn't have the dough for a yellow top. I don't have a winch or extra accessories on the 93 4x4 I just bought, so I figured the red top would suffice?

I'm running the big yellow top - no problems as yet and it's been in for about 2 years.

Thanks all! For now, I will be running a single red top. Maybe add a second down the road.

Bill,
Thanks for the East Penn info. That's a great price on a batt with over 1000 cca's! Too bad I didn't hear from you before I bought the Optima at Pep Boy's Story of my life, 'a day late and a dollar short.' I paid with a check, so I guess I could go back in a few days, and see if I can get a cash refund (after the check clears). I haven't installed the Optima yet.

Yeah, sorry for not saying anything earlier. Some guys don't like it when someone jumps in with their brand, when that wasn't what the thread was asking. I'm not a fan of Optima/Interstate, but many are, so I just stay out of battery threads... most of the time.

Yup the same ones after all this time. I have two of them instead of one. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I had one in my old 69 International pickup and went wheeling and it fell on the manifold and burnt a nice hole in it. I just filled it with shoe goo and it worked for a couple of years after that. No acid to worry about I like that.

Bgilbert, I hear you on the brand loyality issue. Stomp, I say with 8 years on that red top, you got your money's worth! I will probably also run a second red top, once the funds allow. I also like the issue of no acid with the Optima's.
