Auxilary Electrical Outlet Fuse

I seemed to of blown a fuse. But I can't find a bad fuse or any info on the panels about it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can find a fuse box diagram in your owners manual. Do you have a 12v tester? You can check your fuses. What's stopped working? Also, don't forget that you have a fuse box under the hood as well. In my 99, it's mounted on the drivers side fender well near the firewall. Hope this helps.

I have looked in the owners manuel and on both fuse panels but the Aux. outlet is never mentioned. I guess I'll look under the dash for an inline fuse

The Aux Outlet (the cigarette lighter that isn't?) is in slot 25 in the under hood fuse box.

It is a 20amp fuse.

It's the one right under the fuel pump relay (silver box looking thing) in the lower left quadrant.

There is a diagram on the inside of the lid.

On mine anyway.

If it is the cig lighter that is not working I seem to remember a previous thread about this. From memory the lighter is made from cheapie material and the wire burns off at the back which means replacing the entire lighter assembly. Not sure which models this applies to.

I plugged a 20 amp heater into the aux plug and when it quit working, I replaced the fuse and it still did not work. The plug it self was burned up. What a pia to change. If it ever goes bad again, I will replace the socket with a better quality, the stock unit on both the cig lighter and aux is junk. The fuse did not protect mine.

I think I just blew out my auxiliary power outlet too. I plugged up my inverter to it with a strand of Christmas lights on the front grill. Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations on removing/replacing/repairing the power outlet?

Check your fuse first and see if it has blown and if the power outlent has gone bad, it is a simple replacement as well as the lighter, now for the convertor you might have better luck going directly to the battery to run your lights, I use a convertor alot and I go directly to batteries. Man a old thread has returned Merry Christmas,,,,Rick

The factory lighter plug/power outlet is real crap- I gave up on it altogether, I got a three outlet lighter plug box at Radio Shack (or an auto parts store). Run a GOOD SIZE wire pair thru the fire wall to the 12 volt distribution box or tap the positive battery clamp. Screw the negitive down to a good solid ground. Just make sure to FUSE IT PLEASE! An inline fuse holder- again Radio Shack or NAPA or whatever...a 10 or 20 amp fuse should be good. For the amount of work replacing the in dash unit I think it's better to just run this setup and then you have three outlets! Plus now you can mount the outlet box where you want it- it avoids having wires hanging out of the middle of the dash where the factory plug is.
