Anyone ever add a/c?
It's the only thing I dislike about my truck. All the parts from a donor truck, including heater box are required, I imagine. Any aftermarket options?

These folks specialize in aftermarket AC for collector cars and trucks. If any body can hook you up to a system they can. Why not just get all the original components and modify?

My 2001 was a bottom of the line fleet truck that the dealer got stuck with. I bought it new without AC. I installed it. Just about everything is already in the truck. The heater plenum is the same you just have to slip the evaporator into it. You will need the rotary vacuum switch (in the dash)from a truck with AC as the heat only don't work for with AC. I suggest you buy a NEW drier and expansion tube, the rest you could get from a wreckers yard. The compressor must come from a diesel truck as the gas ones are different. same for the hoses and condenser. If you have any questions ask away.
I also suggest you buy a NEW evaporator as they tend to quickly rot on the bottom and you will end up changing it.If you do decide to go used one from a gas truck would work as they are the same as the diesel.
