Just finished replacing the entire AC system on my 1996. It is ice cold once again.

At 307000, I think that was the last accessory that got replaced. I did the power steering and vacuum pumps a couple months ago. It's been through several starters and alternators, of course.

I've got 380,xxx on my '95 and I fully expect to see at least 500,000 on the ODO.

My 01 just passed 450k and is running like a top. I just ordered the parts for a complete AC replacement. Was I supposed to have the valves adjusted at some point?

Do you use a fuel additive for lubricity? Just curious as to how you managed to get over 300K miles on a VP.

Over the years I've added two stroke oil, Power Service white and silver. Never noticed any difference. I've fueled up at the same pump many times in a row and then various brand stations. Still didn't notice any difference in power or fuel mileage.

My 97 5.9 Cummings has 274,000. I just bought it and had the killer dowel pin secured, valves adjusted, throttle linkage replaced. It runs like a top with no blow back. I hope to get another 274,000 out of it. It was a one owner, dealership maintained truck. All stock.

Not two months after I posted that, the transmission went out for the third time. I parked it and bought a new truck.

This still excellent engine is being put into a 1965 Ford F-250 crew cab.

Do the miles still get to add up?

VP44s WILL LAST as long as they have adequate fuel supply. Every VP that fails is bc of low fuel pressure to the injection pump.

People always complain of VP44s and how they're unreliable. What is unreliable is the fuel system on the truck.

VP44s need minimum of 7psi WOT or it WILL fail.

I've had VP44s last over 500k miles...with proper fuel pressure...
