Is anybody REALLY shooting for 500K miles?
I wish I could. Mine has 553,411 miles on it, but I'm on the 2nd speedo! It is only showing 258, 140. It still has the original rear brake shoes, turbo, injectors, injector pump, differential, radiator, actually, too many things to list. I am looking for someone in central TX who can replace the original ball joints, I have a vibration over 65mph. I like to show mine to the naysayers who say the engine outlasts the truck. Uh, the whole truck went over 553k, not just the engine. With my bombs I'm expecting to have to do some engine work around 800k, but I won't be surprised if it makes a million.
I got my '03 with 24,799 on the clock. I have done front brakes, oil and filter changes and that's about it. I think I got it about October of '05.
It has 121K and change right now. Means I average close to 50K/year. At this point I truly believe that 500K is possible.
I notice almost all the high mileage guys have 12V engines. Maybe I can have a high mileage CR if I keep at it. And as of yet the body/interior/electronics show no sign of falling apart.
Fun stuff to think about!

It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually wore out a Cummins. Is it possible? Sometimes things break from racing or mis-use or something, but to actually wear one out? Hmmm. Maybe it can't be done.
Let's hear from someone who had to put bearings in, or was low on compression, or had a bad valve after a million or so miles with normal maintenance. I'm seriously wondering if that EVER happens. Not broken from abuse but one that got regular maintenance and was driven reasonably well.
When I actually hear about someone selling a good running truck with 820,000 miles on it I just have to smile. Cool.

I paid cash for mine May 06 with 137k mi. bone stock, except a k&n drop in filter and missing a muffler. With all the money I have spent on bombs I will have to keep it that long just to justify it.
I do like this truck alot. It's funny though, I have never felt this way about any veichle I have ever had, nor spent this much money!

245,000
Absolutely thinking about maybe a new set of rod bearings at 250,000 and then maybe rods and mains at 500,000. I know a lot of old truckers that use that theory and when they hit 1,000,000 miles they got a new one 👍🏻😃
311,000 Miles on my 1999 (sig).
Runs great. Planning to maybe give this to my 8-year old when he is old enough. Oughta have about 400k on her by then.
2 clutches (had a slave cylinder miss-functioning wore 1 clutch out early).
2-starters
Religious about maintenance.
No real "surprise" breakdowns. Lot of odds and ends getting worked though. (steering, susp, etc...)

1999 Ram 2500. Bought my truck from a friend about 2 years ago. It was at 500,000 when I got it. Just rolled over 558,000 this week. I have driven it from SC to TX and back on vacation. Last fall we pulled a 24' fifth wheel to Missouri and back with no problems.
As with most trucks, ball joints and steering problems have been persistent. I have also replaced the hydroboost and a starter. I use it as a daily driver, haul my tractor, haul hay for horses and haul horse trailers regularly. I love this truck and plan to roll it over a million.

2005 AT (per sig)- Just turned 220K.
I'm shooting for 500K
Engine: water pump (leaking) and thermostat (prophylactic) , serpentine belt tensioner that was making the belt jump a tooth, one cracked fuel injector hard line, $3K worth of injectors with a shout out to Wyoming Diesel in Cody for saving us (I now use redline fuel additive at every fill-up), valves adjusted at 100K. It probably needs a heater core...
Transmission & Driveline: transmission rebuild at 200K, new rear u-joints.
Front end: track bar (twice), upgraded steering linkage, steering box, installed steering box stabilizer.
Front axle: ball joints (twice), front hubs (probably five in total), axle u-joints (twice). I replaced the larger offset wheels that came with the truck in favor of stock offset Centerline wheels. This seems to have fixed my hub and ball joint longevity issues, and those larger offset wheels probably contributed to the front end issues as well. Why would anybody intentionally put wheels on a vehicle that make it look like a slot-car?
Rear axle: parking brake on one side after that side hung up and cooked the shoes.
