Air Induction

I'm interested in installing a tornado air induction unit on my 2002 ctd. Has anyone tried this unit?? Can I use it with a k&n aftermarket filter?

Re:Air Induction

I'm curious as to where this thing will go. Before or after the intercooler. It shouldn't matter about the K&N because to have any chance of being effective, it's gonna have to go in after the intercooler in my opinion.

Re:Air Induction

I think it's suppose to go in the hose that leads to the air box. It looks to be aprox 6-8 inches in diameter.

Re:Air Induction

I don't think it would be of any benefit on a turbocharged diesel. My other vehicle is GM 350 gasser naturally aspirated with throttle body fuel injection. I installed the "tornado" over a year ago, and quite franky haven't noticed any performance or mileage gains with it. $80 out the window as far as I'm concerned.

Re:Air Induction

they are supposed to install in the intake hose, but quite frankly i think they are a waste of money and are more of a restriction than an improvement. JMO

Re:Air Induction

I don't have any faith in it, but if you do install it, puy as close to the intake manifold as possible. If it is before the intercooler any swirl will be straightened going through it.

Re:Air Induction

Isn't the intake a 4" line?

> I can't believe this thing is still on the market....

IMO..... Don't Buy It!!!

This is good ol snake oil in steel form.. The Cummins engine does its own swirl action right at the intake valve(s) to aid in combustion. Anything this product has to offer is non-existant in a diesel, especially turbo diesel application. The theory of better fuel atomization (if any IMHO) is not applicable to the Diesel process.

Spend your money on a good air filter or alternate induction system and leave the hoses tight and unobstructed from the turbo to the engine.

J-eh

Re:Air Induction

Take that money and buy a few good beers and stay at the house to drink them or donate it to Jack for the site. Either one will give you the same amount of performance improvement as installing the turbo tiger or whatever they are calling it these days.
