True First Hand Story:
my friend has a 01 1500 with the cracked dash. we called dodge/chrysler's customer service number and told them about the problem with it. said he was concerned about flying pieces of the dash in the event of an accident.
they told him to buy a new one from dodge and fax them the reciept. he offered to install it himself.
they cut him a check quick and he is very happy now. this happened about 4 months ago
