AC compressor oil check

I did a search and couldn't find anything....How does a person do a oil check on a AC compressor??You don't have to discharge the system?

I believe you do. That takes a bit of work to do it right. What is leading you to think your oil is low? Have you had a small constant leak over several years that could eventually lose the oil for the system?

I replaced the evaporator and had the system vaccumed..Now I don't know if I should go ahead and add 4 oz of oil or not...Before the evaporator replacement I had the low pressure line blow out.

An AC shop might be able to tell you, I think there is a "estimate" when you remove a component. I'm pretty sure you do not add the complete charge, too much oil is as bad or worse than not enough.

Ouch....Sure don't want to do that to often. That AC oil is not cheap. And you have to watch what they write on the label because they include the weight of the can.Can says 4 oz,but the contents of oil is only 2 oz.I put in 6 oz total...I hope thats not to much...

yes...I replaced the evaporator and accumalator...Plus had the system vaccumed...So I just went with the chart...I hope that chart is right...No oil blow things up but also not enough will cause problems....There is a little color indicator that you could pick up and stick in the low side valve. It changes color when you have to much or not enough oil...Problem you have to buy the whole kit to get it......Had a big bang on the first can I discharged...scared the heck out of me....I didn't push the connector far enough between the evaporator and the accumalator...There went half a can of chemicials...

Not sure of the 12 valves, but the 24 valves call for 6.4 total and 1 ounce for each component replaced. SOunds like you put too much in.
