AC Blower Probelm

I have a 99 CTD. It started making a screeming sound the other day when you turned the blower on. It would go away after awhile. Well it did it agian this morning at work. Then It quit, I shut my truck off when I got to the office. I got back in it an hour or so later and all that would work was high speed on the blower. So I went to the parts house got a new blower and all I still have is High speed. Anyone that has any info would be a big help.

I bet the resistor is bad or maybe the switch but I bet that with the noise the motor had a bad bearing and took an excessive load that might have cooked the resistor.

Yes it is the resistor. I found that out last night picked up one from the dealership that thing was 64.55 rip off. I have one problem now I cant find the hunk of junk anywhere under the dash.

Mine is a 1994 and it is behind the glove box. I've got the blow up from dodge if you want me to fax it to you. It tells you where everything is and the part numbers. might help you.

Resistor blocks are nearly always mounted into the air stream of the heater plenum for cooling. On our trucks its as Ru ramming says, behind the glove box.

The reister pack in my 97 is easy to reach. Go to the passenger side and lay on the floor. The resister pack is near the fan (you will see it sticking down) and has 2 screws holding it in. Follow the wires to it from the right side of dash near the door going to your left across the blower motor. That is connected directly to the resister pack.
