AC Blower Not putting out enough CFM

It seems as though I keep the blower on high and the passenger side vents closed all the time to get decent air out of the drivers vents. I think the fresh air intake may be partially obstructed.

The fan sounds fairly noisy as if it's working harder.

Do I need to remove the windshield cowl panel to access the fresh air intake?

Will I be able to remove the duct at the top of the ac unit if I remove the glove box?

Anyone have any suggestions? My cousin's 01 has the same problem, and I can't find anything wrong. His won't blow half as much as mine, but it sounds as loud as a ricer stuck in first gear

It isn't hot in Houston why do you need AC?? Sorry I don't know this problem cure but have you priced a new fan. Might be the ticket.

Your evaporator fins might be plugged up. This happened to my wife's car and another DTR member. There was a thread on it about a month ago. Try a search on evaporator. Good luck.

I think I started the thread mentioned above, when I pulled out the fan it blew fine, but when I reached in and touched the evaperator coil, it was greasy and seemed plugged. I believe that I have an AC leak and the AC oil is pushing out and collecting lint and other stuff and blocking airflow.

When the AC is on, does the AC clutch cycle on an off every 10 seconds or so? Mine does, I plan to get it pressure checked shortly to see if there is a leak, If there is, it is a fairly tedious project to remove the evaperator coil.

Hope this helps, misery loves company.

I'm having the same problem with my 02. Mine sounds like the duct work has come loose behind the glove box. I've been to busy to look at it, but it sounds like the same problem you are having.

Make sure the recirculating vent door is not stuck half way between "Max A/C" position, and "Fresh Air" position.

If your A/C clutch cycles every 10 seconds you are very low on refridgerant. A sure sign of a leak.

Clogged fins in the A/C coils is a very possible siruation also... Especially if the A/C is ran on "Fresh Air" alot.
