'97 for $3500 OBO

I found a '97 2500 reg. cab 4x4 with 185,000 miles on it for $3500 OBO. Sounds like the guy might be a negotiable. In the ad it says it has some mechanical problems but the engine runs great. He says the problems with the truck are the heater doesnt work very well and the transmission sometimes takes an extra second or 2 to go into reverse, but does not slip when driving it. It has new brakes and ball joints, but does have a little rust over the rear tires. What do guys think? Is it worth it?

Sounds like it needs a blend door repair. Go for it!

A buddy of mine called me about this truck, has taken it for a ride even. I told him to start the truck, immediately put the tranny in neutral, and look over the truck as needed from there. He said he peaked over it for about a minute, then took off. The tranny was tight at that point, no hesitation. Seems like a decent truck, he can't get the cash together though.
