1994-Heat/AC Fan Will Not Work

1994 has no heat or AC. The fan will not run in the heat or AC position. I have checked the resistor located by the fan motor and it seems OK. I have checked the 30A fuse in the fuse block for the fan, it is OK. I cannot locate any type of fan relay under the hood that might be causing the problem.

Can anyone give me help on where to look at this point.

maybe the fan motor itself is shot.

I suppose it could be the fan itself or I wondered if it could be the fan switch in the heat/AC control on the dash. Is there any way to troubleshoot the problem?

I've also seen several instances where the blower has burned out its circuit in the ignition switch; it's also a good place to look. If you have a service manual, you can follow its path of power from beginning to end.

I have unplugged the 2 wire connector to the fan and connected it to an external 12V source and the fan operates very smoothly so the fan itself is OK and obviously not my problem.

There is a 4 wire connector to the fan speed resistor located next to the fan that controls the fan speed. With the key on, shouldn't there be 12V to 1 of those 4 wires?

The fan high speed is direct to 12vdc at the connector. Does not use the resistors.

Fan power is from fuse #1. The blower switch routes voltage to the resistor pack depending on what speed you have selected. Hi speed bypasses all resistors.

On the heater control panel plug c227, pin 6 is HI black/tan to pin 2 on the motor. Pin 1 on the motor goes to pin 3 on the ignition switch. There is a fuse block in this line 30A F2. Back on the control panel pins 3 and 4 go to the resistors pins 2 and 3. (3 is lo and 2 is med) In the power distribution center fuse 2 40A supplies power to the ignition switch contacts for the fan. This is all from my garage manual for my 95. Hope they are the same.

My fan would not run in any speed (including high) in either the heat or AC mode. I really think my problem is the fan switch itself. The fan switch in the climate control module has a 7 pin connector I believe. I removed this connector and with the ignition switch on I have 12V to 5 of the 7 pins.

My fan runs smoothly when I isolate the fan by itself. The fan speed resistor shows continuity and I have 12V from the ignition to the switch.

Surely the switch in the climate control module must be the culprit? Does anyone agree?

The switch itself is very simple, take it apart.

Sure sounds like the switch and I am here to tell ya that Dodge is very proud of it's plastic. They are pricey. A good cleaning using Infidel's reference is well worth the trouble.

I found a brand new Mopar climate control module listed on Amazon.com with 12 month warranty for $138.00. The upper and lower ***** on my old one were broken and I was using needle nosed pliers to adjust the temp and vent control.

I dont know what it lists for directly from the dealer but it is ordered and I sure hope the switch is my problem!!!! If not its a $138 lesson learned.

Got it fixed. Changed out the entire climate control module. Switch must have been the problem.

$138 is worth it, Kansas heat and humidity can be rough!

Way I found to keep the back of the climate ***** from breaking after replacing mine three times the first year I had the trucks was to slip a 1/4" long piece of copper tubing the same size as the outside diameter of the plastic where the shaft inserts on the back of the ****.
Don't remember the size of the tubing but it was a tight fit.
***** haven't broken again in 17 years even though last time I had one break I bought a bunch of extras.
Sort of doubt the ***** are available separately anymore.
