3rd gen tailpipe on a 2nd gen?

Anyone know if this is possible? My neighbor has an 01 truck that needs a new tailpipe. He wants to ditch the muffler while he's down there too. I haven't found anything used that we can put on his truck but I do have a tailpipe from my truck sitting in the shed. I haven't even looked up under his truck to see what it looks like because my back is hurt right now. So, if anyone has done this successfully let me know....
Thanks

He actually wants me to straight pipe it for him but I talked him out of it. That thing is loud enough already and I don't want to listen to that at 5:30am when he leaves for work!!!!!!

as long as the exhaust tubing is the right size or you can use a reducer it will work. a exhaust is an exhaust doesnt matter where it comes from.
