2nd lift pump
2nd lift pump
51,000 on the first one , replaced again yesterday at 109.000. Hopefully got it before i damaged the vp44.
Dodge wanted 340.00 for the pump and 75.00 an hour X 3 to install. Took it to Cummins and got one installed for 225.00. took them maybe 20 minutes to change.
Had dodge look up price for vp 44 (they only showed 6 available nationwide @ 3200.00 each. Cummins quoted 1800 , said they use their regular truck pump instead of the Dodge pump, (still a bosch)
went from 2 lbs to 18 pbs

Jeepers Herb, you're really getting some smoking service out of those Cummins guys. Good to hear. Bummer about the LP though, hopefully it didn't assist in the untimely demise of your VP44
There is currently a shortage of VP44 pumps, both new and rebuilt, north america wide. Makes you wonder how bad these things really are huh? I know how bad they are, and it still makes me wonder.
I have gone through 4 LPs in just under 140,000 km. thats about 86,500 miles
Each one has been warrantied, although now I am having hassles with the VP pump. So it goes.
Good to know about Cummins though, glad to see that some dealers still look out for the small guy.

fortunatly i have a fuel gauge and caught it as soon as the pressure dropped so vp 44 should be ok "knock on wood"
do need a different fuel gauge tho, thinking about going to an electrical. the one i have is not accurate and am not comfortable with it.
