2nd dead lift pump
2nd dead lift pump
56K miles and the second lift pump is dead. Had the first one replaced under warranty a little over a yr ago. Now the pressure is falling off on the second one. I like to never got it started after the last fuel filter change. Just talked my favorite dealership in Sealy and truck is still under warranty. Its going in Thur. for the in-tank pump conversion. Anybody out there been running the in-tank pump long enough to have any experience with it? I hope it gives me better luck the first 2 have.
I agree 100% but they are doing it for free and they want me to believe that it will end my lift pump problems. I just was hoping to hear someone confirm that.
I don't mind buying the old style and changing it myself if the new pumps don't do any better but I'm not real sure where to get one. The parts man said he doesn't even sell them anymore. If I was to go with an aftermarket pump right now, I would have problems getting a warranty VP replacement

How much warranty do you have left? Should be pretty close.
I am glad I got my LP (and IP) replaced under warranty before they started the in tank retro's.
I guess we haven't had a long enough time period to hear any real world results on the life span, but the initial pressure reports are less than stellar.
I'll take it one step further, I'd rather change out 4 to one that I had to take the bed off to get to.
Never know though, maybe these are the end all's, they could be in there for 200,000 miles at a time v.s 40,000?!

I'd rather have a l.p. in an "accessible" spot, than an in-tank pump that will last 300K.
What they hell are they thinkin???? I think their reasoning is this:L>>>>>>>>> it will cost us less because the ones we replace will last until their warranty is up,,,,then it's their problem, so we don't care where the pump is, because it will be their problem. WE won't have to see the truck again until after warranty.
By the way, can one still get that l.p. from cummins????
