Found a bunch of old posts regarding adding foglights to a 2nd gen CTD auto and seems like there's a lot of "yes, no, maybe so" info ... I bought foglights and a switch (should have read the threads first and ordered the whole kit - I spent $100 and still need plugs, etc).

Anyway, does anyone have the pinouts (wiring diagram) for the foglight switch? It's got 5 pins on it - I assume there's 12v in and 12v out (light circuit), 12v in (dash light), ground and ??? ... what else?

I spent an hour rooting around under the dash looking for that elusive spare plug and gave up - then see that "fog lights not an option for Auto CTDs" note in one of the threads. The under-hood wiring is there, but no plug that I can see under the dash. So, in that light, anyone know a source for the connector to the foglight switch, and connectors for the foglights themselves?

If your truck came from the factory w/fog lights the switch is built into the headlight switch. Turn the switch right/left for headlights, pull the entire switch for the fog lights. If not, then yes, you'll have to wire it up. Sorry if this is not what you're looking for.

 

The '97 was the last year to have the foglight switch separate from the headlight switch. It's on the dash next to the O/D Off switch. But thanks for responding!

 

Greg, I sent you a PM about my experiences with my '97.
I finally got a dealer to dig, and he found because of the Auto ATF cooler bracket's interference, they weren't offered for those models('97)...
The wiring IS there from the firewall forward through the PDC, but not from the firewall inward. Only one control wire is missing from the main connector block for the fog pushbutton. The slot is empty, ready to accept a pin with the wire crimped to it.

Also, there's a "Y" connector cable listed with the bumper light group for use with the foglights. That "Y" cable is NOT present in our trucks. That needs to be obtained too. There are two connectors hanging down under the radiator, but only one is for the fogs.

Maybe you can go to the junkyard and salvage all these neat goodies from a Cash-For-Clunkers gasser that some FOOL cashed in.

Well, most of the power relay wiring IS under the truck already, just a single wire with a special crimped-on pin is missing.
A trip to the junkyard for one and an OEM pushbutton plug and everything else is easy.
Figured it out with my '97 FSM. Worth every penny...

 

I have been looking for a factory harness and switch for the longest time and am just about ready to give in and wire them the way halo has sugested. Now I need to find a suitable combo switch and light that will fit in the spot that the factory provided.
