HEADLIGHTS-FOGLIGHTS
HEADLIGHTS-FOGLIGHTS
When I turn on my headlights and not the fog lights I'll be going down the road, my headlights will go off the fog lights will come on then the head lights will come back on. Some times it will happen once sometime it will happen 2 or 3 times. When it does this it happens in about 3 or 4 seconds. The first time it happen, it was so quick I thought I was seeing things.Has anyone else have this problem? I have an appointment to replace the headlight switch.I hope this fixes the problem.
Mine has done that twice in 2 years. The strange thing is that it did it in exactly the same place sitting in traffic about 5 miles from home!!
I've read about it before and apparently the headlight switch has been the culprit. Next time mine does it I'll be replacing that first.....

I'm not sure if this applies to a 2003 but it probably does:
The headlight switch and multifunction switch send signals to the instrument cluster which in turn sends signals to the Front Control Module which controls which lights are on and off.
Since the instrument cluster is part of the chain, you could do an instrument cluster self-test:
1. Ignition switch off
2. Hold down trip odometer button
3. Ignition switch on but not start
4. Release trip odometer
Those steps will cause all the lights on your instrument cluster to flash and when it's done will show codes on the odometer in the form of "XX YY". XX is the fault code and YY is the number of ignition cycles since the code was set. When "00 00" is shown all stored faults (if any) have been shown and the test is over.
Post the codes if you get any.
Other than the IC self test, the other culprits are the headlight switch and then the front control module (if a 2003 has one).
