Like I said. I am looking at a Reg. cab 4x4 6speed with the diesel of course. The outside looks like a 10 year old truck. No rust (Florida). It is a little beat up. The interior is fine, actually looks pretty good. Its a SLT with cloth. What can I check when looking at this truck. I will do the Key thing to check codes. I will try and see if I can see if its a 53 block. I will be using this as a toy. I plan on adding some big power or turning it into a mud truck or both and wonder if this is the way to go. The price is $5000 obo. Thanks.

 

Sounds like you've got it covered except for the front end. Just check for death wobble, track bar movement, etc. Also, check for fuel pressure and a code might/might not be thrown for a dead vp. Price sounds good...might be too good to be true though.

 

You'll be buying parts if it doesn't have all of the front end mods/upgrades ie new track bar, steering bushing gauges, FASS/AirDog etc. but the price is right. They were over 10K a few years ago. Has the VP been replaced? Just search for all the problems. They have common themes.
