2001.5 cruise control
I've got the late 2001 truck. Every once in a while, the cruise will just quit. The cruise light on the dash will go on and off, but that's it.
Anyway, my buddy's early '01, has the servo by the battery box, and the throttle cable, and cruise cable, at the APPS.
Mine has no servo to be found, and only the accelerator cable.
The question is, how does the cruise work??
I'm asuming it's all electronic, but there's not even a fuse or relay marked cruise.

There's something that runs under one of the batteries having to do with cruise.
Vaccuum perhaps?
Folks have had the battery puke some acid which ate through whatever it is under the battery tray,
resulting in messed up or non existen cruise control.

Sounds like the '01.5 is set up like the '02. On diesels (of course
) with manual trans, it's all electronic. It has switches in the steering wheel to turn it on/off, set, etc. The wheel speed sensor provides input to the anti-lock brake controller, which provides that info to the ECM. Looks like failure points would be: faulty rear wheel speed sensor, faulty brake switch, or faulty switches in the steering wheel.

Check the battery thing first. I think I've heard that under the driver side battery there is a vacumm hose that controls the cruise. The battery has been known to cause the hose to go bad and result in no cruise.
