I have a 2001 EX 5-speed. A few hundred miles after I changed the clutch, the speedometer/tachometer/cruise control all stopped working. Yesterday, the car wouldn't crank over at all. It seems like a dead battery, but the battery is brand new. The starter sometimes clatters, but will NOT turn the motor. When I push start it, it starts right up and runs great.

Any advice?

Check your grounds, also check for crushed or pulled wires. It seems to me that you may have missed reinstalling one when putting the tranny back in.


Tach signal should come from either the cps or the cam sensor. The speedo pick up is usually located on one side of the tranny near the axle shaft. A neutral safety switch will also cause a no start, but you will be able to pop start is as you have. I would find it hard to believe that you had multiple different failures at once, that is why I suggested checking all the grounds.
