1995 Ram 2500

Hi Folks,
I need a little advice on what to look at and for on an original owner 95 Cummins Ram 4x4. 172k miles mostly as daily transportation. 5 speed with 3.55 axles. Original clutch and trans. Original untouched engine. He has replaced balljoints and axle ujoints, steering box, shocks and brakes but has original rotors, starter, water pump and belt. Done the work himself. I am going to look at it tomorrow so any help would be appreciated.

Ask if the KDP has been taken care of. Other than normal things to look at rust on frame and body, ANY leaking seals (engine, trans or rearend), any butchered up wiring or other system.

If the engine has not been turned up then everything should be in good condition.

I think that means Killer Dowl Pin...I haven't done mine yet either-just got my truck. But everyone says this little dowl pin can crack the block if it backed out and fell. It is in the front- I think behind the lower timing cover. Maybe someone that knows will shead some light on it for you and I,HTH,Chuck

whats he askin for it?

check front cover for leaks or cracks. if you are not familiar with the front end, have a shop look it over (they can get pricey to repair) good bargaining tool. take it for a good ride. the 5 speeds had trouble with 5th.

I agree here

but if its a 4wd, do expect the usual, trackbar, needs an alignment, and possibly the shocks as well..

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Now start doing your research and fix the little things. You'll love the cummins. Welcome to the site!
