'03 CD Player in '02?

Has anyone tried to put an OEM CD player from a 3rd gen. in a 2nd gen. truck? I have the 3rd gen radio i got from a friend and want to put in in my '01 to replace an aftermarket deck. It would take some modification, but i don't want to tear anything up i can't fix (cheaply!). If this has been done i would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks.

You'd be better off going with either an aftermarket unit or (if your dead set on staying cheap and OEM) finding a CD player out of a similar year truck. I went aftermarket and haven't looked back. Much better sound, lot of features, and it's easily upgradeable (subs, amps, XM radio).

I just did this today...I took the OEM CD player out of my 04 Rubicon (I'm running the RB1 nav radio in the Jeep) and installed it in my 01 Ram. Had to get an adapter harness from the dealer, and I had to modify the dash bezel around the radio opening, but it doesn't look half bad.

No pics, sorry. But it did come out pretty good, doesn't look hack at all. (which was my biggest concern)
Basically just took a dremel tool to trim the bezel until it cleared the radio.
