Wifes 03 dodge acting up- Help
Truck- 2003 Dodge 1500 4x4 5.7L Hemi, auto.
Didn't know where else to post but need your expertise, their is alot of knowledgeable people here who can help help direct me to what is wrong.
Problem:
Truck acts up when started cold after sitting for several hours. The oil pressure gauge will not register at all. Engine will not clatter or act like their is no oil. Check gauge lite comes on.
Shut engine down. Restart engine and engine runs rough but oil pressure gauge works. Check gauge lite is out.
Wife has also had where the oil gauge has been registering then stop registering after start up. Shut down engine. Restart and then engine runs rough but oil gauge is registering.
When the engine runs rough there is no clattering. The engine goes up and down in RPM with out touching the throttle. Kind of acting like its cutting out but not.
If engine sits for a couple hours it still starts and runs fine, no issues with oil gauge or rough running. Just acts up if it sits for several hours.
Any info would be grateful.

I haven't had to do that repair so not sure if it is a restriction problem or sealing problem to the oil pump. Never gets that cold here but check engine oil pressure with a mechanical oil gauge when engine is cold to make sure it's not just a bad oil pressure sender.
