Who's VP died from fuel box?? died stock??

I want to get a fuel box in the future, but it seems the guys that are replacing the VPs are the ones that have fuel performance boxes. maybe I'm wrong, it does seem that the boxes are adding a strain the VP and causes premature wear or overexertion on the VP.

What I want to know, how many pump failures have fuel boxes attached for fuel box related??

I lost my pump the day after I put the Edge Comp on. But it had 123K miles on it, so it was not too bad.

I've got 87K on mine so far. I've had fueling boxes on it off and on over the years. Dead fuel pumps, running the tank low, etc, etc. So far so good. Personally, I think it's a matter of when, not if it will fail. We all know that a Comp will kill the IP sooner, but how much sooner? 50k miles? 15k miles? 10 miles? Did the comp actually cause the IP to die, or was it just the IP's time and it coincided with putting a comp on? Who knows. One things for certain, the truck is a heckuva lot more fun to drive with a comp than it is without.

From what I've read around here, my thoughts are if your Vp is borderline and you tap the wire, it will push it over the edge.

That makes a lot sense, if the pump is weak the box will kill it. I guess it's like the old saying, "Only the the strong survive."

I got 107K on my VP with a Comp box. From what I hear 107k is good without a box.
Two transmissions one VP.

Mine went at 68000 and i've never had a box on it. but i love hearing the truck scream so that might have something to do with it.

I've replaced a ton of stock ones over the "tapped" ones that have died.

My VP died at approx. 75K, never had a fuel/timing box on it, my failure was electrical, not mechanical. Still have the original LP, I know... need to get PSI guage, but was tested at 9PSI WOT and 12 to 13 PSI idle.

I have about 88K on mine and my VP is starting to take a crap on me. First start up of the day I get the big puff of white smoke and rough idling......after that it seems to be fine but I have a feeling that it is on it's way to a dirt nap!! Guess it's time for the HRVP44.............. I've had my COMP box on since about 80K so it could be caused from that or it could just be it's time......who knows???

im new to this list but i mine is going for sure. I had a weak VP and the box made it worse for sure. I had my engine cut out twice in three years before the box and last weekend the thing was cutting out bad when i was passing on a highway with the box on 5x5. turned it off and it is good for now. Need to fix it soon before i get screwed

Just wondering what you guys that have had yours go out do to replace it?? Just got with another VP44? Rebuilt/new? are there any after market or beefier options?? thanks

VP failed at 115,000 miles. Everthing completly stock, no modifications at all. (no Fuel Pressure gauge, but I suspect the LP contributed to VP failure).

VP went TU with 4K on the clock. (never heard why, but my bet is electronics)

LP still original with 50K on the clock.

No box, no inectors, no nothing.
