What temp for blended fuel

During the big freeze over Presidents weekend I was in MT snowmobiling and the temp got down to -36. We stopped for fuel in Missoula and all the pumps had a choice of #2 diesel, 50-50 blend or #1 diesel. At the time I fueled the temp was only -4 so I put in the 50-50 knowing it was going to get colder in the next couple of days. My question is how cold does it have to get before you start using blended fuel and should I have used #1 diesel knowing it was going to get cold.

#2 with some additive u will be ok, straight #1 is kerosene which needs some lube oil. 50-50 would be a better coice if u had no additives.

Mini14 is right, and I would never run "winter" or "#1" diesel without a lubricity additive such as Standyne's or Power Service, or John Deere's. I mean, I use it ALL the time running #2 diesel!
