Smile Diamler Rules

I know I am going to catch some heat with this but, Diamler Chrysler rules. As some may have seen from a prior post of mine 6 months out of warranty with only 48K on my truck i lost my second lift pump (first one covered by warranty) this time the failed lift pump took the injector pump with it.

The Good News.

I called customer service explained my problem and the fact that I believed this was partially due to the first lift pump failure and that 2 lift pumps after only 48K might indicate a problem. Obviously we all know the redesigned the LP but to my suprise with out any argument Diamler Chrysler is replacing my lift and injector pump for me for a total out of pocket cost of $400 cash and 2.5 hours labor. Beats the hell out of dealership cost of $2000 for parts alone.

After this I am convinced there are good people at D/C and I will buy more of their products in the future (already own 2). If you find yourself in a similar situation keep the faith stay positive and at least give it a shot.

I think Ill play LOTO tonight too

My question is now that I am going to obviously end up with the controverial in tank pump WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PROTECT MY INJECTOR PUMP IN THE FUTURE?

I doubt very highly I will get another Inj Pump out of them. Unless it dies under my 12/12 parts warranty

Re

Ya fuel pressure gauge is first on my lift. But that wount prevent the system from failing only let me know it is or is about to. I was hoping for the best, cheapest option for the "in tank" system to prevent a failure.

Well that brings me back to my original question. How do I protect my Inj Pump now.

Buy the cleanest possible, good quality fuel.

Lubricity Additives are subjective, some swear by them, others swear at them.
Personally, I use Stanadyne PF in every tank.

Monitor the Lift pump pressure post filter, if possible, so a drop in WOT pressures will signal the need to check/change the fuel filter.

in tank pump

I would first thing put a fuel pressure gauge in post filter on any 24valve truck.
Then install a pusher electric pump inline mounted to the frame rail just in front of the tank that is the way it should have been done from the factory! This is how i set mine up on my 99 dually. I used the carter 4601hp cut the steel line as close to the tank as i could installed 1/2" line to the pump then from the pump to the filter housing. Also drilled out the banjo bolts and extended the factory wiring with larger wire to run the pump works great cost me $110 dollars
and if i need to change the pump out on the road it is now easyer to get to than before. Rattlerbob

Personally, Id take a passeroni on the intank pump and get one of the better options BEFORE DC changes the VP-44 and af=ter the FP guage is installed.

Ok, I might be off here but isn't the injection pump covered under the 10/100 (or something like that) warranty for the motor anyways? That would mean that they are charging you full retail for the LP replacement and doing the VP44 under warranty anyways.
Is this not correct?
