What scan tool works?

I just bought an Actron cp9135 OBD2 scan tool. It wont talk to the cummins module. Does anybody know one that will. I was told it could read what the ecm was seeing ie engine temp ect. All this one will do is read & cleared codes. Its going back to Auto Zone tomorrow. Does anybody use a laptop program as a scan tool? I would like to get one of them.

That's all the cheaper scanner's do. The Snap-on scanner I use at work reads all that stuff but cost $3500.

I've got an autotap program/reader for my laptop. It will read 6-8 parameters from the ECM, stuff like coolant temp, intake temp, engine load, RPM, and will reset codes. It works better on gassers, lots more info available from their ECM, but it does work on Cummins.

If you want to play like a pro , you will have to pay like a pro .
But then there's ebay , you can get the Snap On MT 2500 for about $500 , you may need to get up dated cartriges , up to $700 from Snap On .
You should go back to the user control pannel and fill in the truck signature so we can give you the rite info .
