What Kind Of Trans Is This?

I have a 2001 CDT but when I bought it the guy put a new trans in it. I just want to make sure its the factory trans before I buy the parts to fix it. So which transmission is this?

Looks like your basic 47RE with a deep pan.

Since it's from a 2001, I'd say it's a 47RE.

Get the number off that angled flat area just below the lower cooler pipe - it's the model number, serial number and model year

Anybody recognize the deep dish pan? Not factory and not a Mag-Hytec.

Looks like a pan off an old power wagon or early Dodge with right-side drive front axle - but somebody obviously gave the trans a touch-up coat of aluminum paint, right over the original dirt, grease, and grime

That looks exactly like mine, which is a 47RE. I've never seen a 48RE though.

Fortunately the interior doesn't match the exterior - very clean and serviceable - looks almost new - hope I find one that clean for my build-up.

The numbers are on an angled flat spot just above the pan-lip, in the area below that tube to the fluid-cooler - should be at least three groups of numbers
