Can't eat store bought white bread, when I was a kid we called it "baled fog" there just isn't much there.

The whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead.

One vote for pumpernickel.

Re:What kind of bread
None.
I haven't eaten any type of bread for over 2 months now. It was real tough at first cause I love Roast Beef sandwiches, but it's not that bad now.

But I have lost almost 40 pounds in those 2 months so it is a good trade-off.
Re:What kind of bread
My favorite bread, I make San Francisco sourdough bread in big round loaves, I make up the starter and it sit's for days in the fridge till it get's just right. Then I make up the bread dough and let it rise to over double in size about an hour.
Then I knead it back down using my knuckles to trap lots of air bubbles. Then I make it into two round ***** and place them each in a ceramic bowl and spray a little veg oil over top and cover with saran wrap. Stick it in the oven with just the light on for heat and let it rise a couple hours.
By this time they are bursting up out of the bowls. I turn on the oven to 375 and take the bread out. Using a real sharp knife I get it wet and drag it lightly across the top to make the checker pattern on top. Let it rise till the oven is hot and put them in for about an hour. With a spray bottle I spray fresh water on the sides and bottom of the oven to create steam every few minutes for the first half hour, this makes the hard crust. Let it bake to a golden brown and take it out of the oven.
after it cools a little I take a knife and cut a circular top out of it like a jackolantern. This forms a bread bowl and I fill it with clam chowder and spread butter on the top piece that I cut out. Now that my friends is a highway!!.

I could never go w/o pasta, so I'm out...
[/quote]
Dont even make me think about pasta. I loev the stuff. Actually the hardest thing to give up was the rice. Being from Louisiana, we usually cook a pot of rice then ask what you want with it for supper. ;D
Adkin's is definately a "man's diet". I think I've eaten an entire cow since I started it. And I love steak.
