I'm running ro-smella (which I love the smell of), but I'm thinking about switching over on the oil change after the next one. Truck is an 04.5, and I only have 44k on it. Hope it's time.

I switched over to Amsoil 15W-40 CI-4+ and the Eao80 oil filter last year for 2 reasons: 1) I only put 8000 to 10,000 miles a year on the truck and I can extend the oil change to once a year, 2) To see if I can pick up a little fuel mileage. I just did an oil sample with 4000 miles on the oil and the SOS looked excellent. The fuel mileage front is a little cloudy, I did the dyna-trac locking hub conversion, F-1 mach 1.2 injectors, and the switch to Amsoil all around the same time. I am seeing a solid 2 mpg gain but I spent a lot of money getting there, so if I didn't get the other benefits from the modifications I probably couldn't justify the money spent for fuel mileage.
Regards, Mike.

There is also a 5w40 rotella which is refined further than the 15w40. I'm currently running delo and plan on running delo/delvac blend next time or maybe the valvoline. Can anyone tell me if valvoline's whatever blue is a group III or IV?

Most of the time oil is oil, but some of the synthetics can offer better protection in extreme conditions, like when I lost my water pump

Running Rotella, but only so I can properly recycle it..... refuse oil, what refuse oil?

For everything else, I used to run synthetic, but I switched back to dino.
