Most likely the auto trans heat exchanger mixing anti freeze and ATF together within the cooler.

If you find that is the problem.
I should have a good spare heat exchanger in my shop.

cement8469, welcome to DTR!

Your truck has two transmission coolers. An air to fluid cooler up in front of the truck, looks like a mini radiator. The other one is the coolant to fluid heat exchanger that oliver foster referenced above. It's a shell and tube type heat exchanger, very efficient at heat transfer. Unfortunately, an internal leak causes the fluids to mix, as you found out.

It's located on the right hand side of your engine, kind of underneath the turbo. It's a black cylinder shaped can, mounted horizontally, with transmission and coolant lines running to it. Here's some pictures to help you out:

Here's the two transmission lines that run to the heat exchanger. This picture is taken from the passenger side of the engine looking down. That's the oil pan towards the bottom for reference.

Here is a picture of the heat exchanger itself. Look between the exhaust downpipe and the exhaust manifold, and you'll see it.

Hope this helps.
