Wait to Start. Problem?
Wait to Start. Problem?
If I turn my key to run the wait to start light comes on it will fire right up.
I run around for a little while, I shut my truck off, when I go to crank it back up
it does not matter if I just shut it off or if its off for a couple of hours. I turn the key and the wait to start light does not come on, it will not Fire up it will turn over like crazy but it will not fire. If I cycle the key a couple of times fast and get the wait to start to come on it will fire up the first turn over.
Anyone have any Idea what is going on I would appreciate it thanks!!

Ummm..kinda sounds like a bad ignition switch. Perhaps you are going to the "crank" without initiating the "run". Almost as if you went down and jumped the starter. The fact that you have to switch the ignition really fast to get the WTS light really makes me think the switch is bad...
I see what you mean, It seems when I have not run the truck over night the light comes on the first try. My big question is why wont it start if the wait to start light does not come on. It use to fire any time I went to crank it up. I just dont understand what is going on.
you can check the ingition switch it,s easy to do with a ohm meter.you will need a tork t-20 screw driver to get the plastic cover off when you check for continuity in the run position you will have continuity between pin 4&5, 2&7, 6&7 in start position you will have it between 3&gnd 1&7 2&7 in acc you should have continunty between 6&7 when you turn the key to run you should hear the fuel pump run
I am by no means a electrical wizz. I really dont think its the ignition. Cause when I turn the key to run everything else comes on. If you then turn to crank it will not start, turn the key off as I stated before and keep doing it till the light pops up it will fire right off.
The ECM is responsible for controlling the Wait-to-start light. Assuming the ECM is good, I’m with the folks that said the ignition switch is at fault. No power to the ECM from the switch = no wait-to-start.
I wired a kill switch that interrupts the ignition switch signal to my ECM and it also stops the light.

I figured if it was the ignition that none of the other bells and whistles would work. I am not going to go threw the trouble of replacing it. I will just keep doing as I am till it goes all the way out. Send it in to get worked on thanks for the help.
