I spent an hour with chrysler today. I showed them in black and white on page 12 concerning start date on warranty. They denied it and would not accept there own book warranty. I do not know how to move forward.

I had my vp44 replaced under warranty at Cardinal Dodge in Louisville. About 30,000 miles later while in TN, my return fuel line snapped and dumped a half tank of fuel, which fried the cpu. A good dealer in Columbia, TN had to replace the fuel line, cpu, & vp44. It turned out that Cardinal Dodge only put 2 of 4 mounting bolts on my new vp44, which caused the second replacement & extra repairs. Do you guys think I could get Chrysler the pay for the 2nd vp44 I had replaced?

Went through the motions with DC National. I am also going to file a complaint with the NH AG.

Going to the State AG is a good idea. A few years ago I had a local Chebby dealer tell me they didn't warranty ANY electical parts (despite their being covered under warranty). Guy at the local dealer was real adamant that Chebby and his dealership would never warranty them. I filed a complaint with the AG. Dealer called me a few weeks later and was very conciliatory.

Heh, just got a dose of DC's in your face. DC International Customer Service called me (yup I've been emailing to Germany) and told me that if I had bought a Chrysler VP44 they could have made a 'good-faith' reimbursement. I said if your customer service rep had said that to me on Monday, we all might have walked away happy and I would have purchased a Chrysler re-man. She said sorry and hung up! I'm not done by a long shot yet. Now I have my next demand letter and email ready!

In addition, Chip from Blue Chip has in the past been approached by two different attorneys about appearing as an expert witness in a class-action suit. He's still willing to do so if we can muster up enough folks to participate. I think a start would be submitting complaints to the AGs in every state. It only takes one person per state to do that. If we all know who is submitting to each state, we can cross reference for our own AGs. Get enough complaints in enough states and attorneys will come out of the woodwork to start a class-action.

This gets even funnier. Went down to the Dodge dealer to pick up a hard copy estimate for replacing the lift pump and VP44 and it was the first time that the service manager there had ever read the warranty info booklet - he just always relies on the computer. He was amazed. Same wording appears in the new 2007 manual. He said DC is going to lose. Hope so!

Great.....I've been installing VP's on out of warranty trucks using an aftermarket supplier saving customers around $900. I just can't wait for the first one to turn on me and "demand" this "warranty". I know Chysler will tell them to pound sand since I didn't use a "chrysler" reman, so they'll immediately turn on myself and the place in which I work. I'm counting the days......

If you did not first take it to a Dodge Dealer and get rejected for Warranty, I do not think you have a case.

I took mine in and they said "no Warranty" and printed out a VIP report for me, that incorrectly shows warranty expiring at 5 years from delivery. I started an email string with Customer Service and informed them that I was going to replace it myself and file a claim against the Cummins Engine Warranty. They never told me to take it back to the dealer. I am months into the fight and two demand letters for repayment. Filed a complaint with the Washington State Attorney Generals Office. The AG is still awaiting for Chrysler Customer Service to get clarification from they legal department, before responding to the AG official requests for information regarding the fact that the Warranty Booket states that the 5/100 Cummins Engine warranty begins at the end of the basic 3/36 warranty. Thanks for light at end of tunnel, Snoking and Thomas--you can bet I will try DC and NC's AG. (01.5 2500 120K, 2nd owner).
