Well, my guess would be that the LP has been dead for awhile, The vp can and will pull fuel though it until the system is open (changing the filter). But with a dead LP the IP will be damaged. I did the EXACT same thing, put on a new LP and IP (Who needs a gauge it's all new RIGHT) 7 months and 5k mile later I did it all again, and then I got the gauge. Some times educations are expensive.

 

P.S. II is very good on warranty. I had one partically warrantied with a wire tap and almost 12 months and they gave me 500 bucks credit on a new one.
