I have a couple questions about torque convertors and valve body upgrades. First of all what are decent convertors and valve bodies for the money. I was looking at both from BD Diesel. Also does it make sense to replace the valve body before the torque convertor or do them both at the same time.

Both at the same time, my opinion. Also call Dave Goerend http://www.goerend.com and ask for a quote. He will build it for what you do, tow, race, sled pull or daily driver. He will ship or you can drive to his shop in IA. I drove and saved $1500 for him to only replace the parts necessary.
