How do I adjust the valves ? I have the cover off and
i can't find tdc on the balancer?

You will need to look at the front engine plate- there is a gizmo with a hose that goes to the infamous puke bottle.
You will need to remove the hose and unscrew the gizmo (engine vent) and you will see the injection pump gear- this gear has a line marked on it and when it's up the engine is in cyl 1 TDC position, when it's down it's in cyl 6 tdc position. With these 2 positions you can adjust all valves.

alpine is correct but dont forget to rotate that mark a full 360 degrees. easiest thing to do is when in tdc mark the bottom of the harmonic balancer with a sharpe, adjust corresponding valves, then rotate 360 degrees till that mark is in same position again.

 

All you have to do is rotate the engine until the mark on the gear is at 6 o'clock, in relation to the TDC mark.
