Vac pump reseal kit, Cummins vs Fixin Rams

So whats the difference between Fixin Rams PS seal kit and the Cummins kit(4089742)? From what I have read both come with dual lipped seal.

Cost I think, I used the cummins kit, it came with directions, I just had to dig thru the tool box to find the proper sized sockets to use as seal installers, just remember to install the seal lips in the right direction, I think someone posted awhile back that they had a leak after instal and the put the seal in the wrong way. I found it faster to pull pump and PS pump as one unit and leaving the high pressure lines installed on the PS pump, just unhook the lines up by the Master Cylinder instead, as they are easier to unhook, instead of trying to unhook them down below where ther is no room, (you have to unhook the low pressure lines at the PS pump resovior)
good luck

Thanks for the info, where did you get the kit? Cummins or dealer? How much did you pay?

Was that a kit with the gaskets or just the double lip seal?

i bought two kits from the dealer and they were insanely expensive!!! i had trouble getting the double lipped seal to seat properly both times. they would role while putting them together. its hard to see the seal when your putting the two pieces back together and i used lube both times to make sure it was smooth going in. it stopped leaking on the second seal kit but after a month or so it started leaking again. i've put off replacing it again as it is not leaking bad at all.

$8 from Cummins and $75 from local Dodge dealer almost 1000% markup NO JOKE It was even in the Cummins bag and was the same part # so I went to Cummins, thats were I get all my stuff. Use your CPL# and they get all the right parts the 1st time.

Thanks guys! I'll probably order it up this week and get it done. The Cummins dealer is over hour away vs the 5 minute walk to the dealer but for that price maybe I'll have to take the wife shopping in the city and make a side trip!
