Truck won't start...p1693 code
So I hopped in my truck today to take my g/f to the mall
and my truck started up and about 3 seconds later it stalled. It won't restart now. Changed the fuel filter praying that would somehow help...nope. The P1693 code is the only code that I got. I was doing a little searching on here and apparently that's just a code to tell you that there is a code
. That is the only code that came up in the odo window. Thought maybe the fuel system needed bled for some reason, so I cracked open the banjo bolt and got no fuel at all. I realize I need to figure out what the other code is, but does anyone have any suggestions until then?
p.s. Drove about a 250 mi round trip this wknd and no probs at all until this morning...no CEL or anything.

well if you had no fuel to the banjo bolt then it is apparent either your pump failed or you have a clog or broken fuel line or better yet ran out of fuel and the gauge failed to say you were empty that happen on mine and i had to replace the unit in the tank.
P1693 is telling you the JTEC controller has a dtc. If you can read dtcs in the JTEC, that may or may not give you a clue to why you have a no start. The JTEC controller is responsible for sending fuel level to cluster.
There is fuel in the tank. It's about half full. Only have about 200 mi since last fill-up. I wish it was that easy.
I haven't even really had time to look at it yet, no garage and it gets dark way before I get home from work.
Would one of those cheapie code readers that you can buy from autozone/advance auto work? I don't know the quality of those things, so I'm not gonna get one if it's not worth it.
I may just get it towed up to my buddy's shop and be done with it.
Thanks for the help so far.

If it makes any difference, my fuel mileage has slightly decreased in the last few weeks from 17-18 to 15-16. Don't know if it's just b/c it's getting colder and the engine hardly ever warms up to operating temp, or if it's somehow related to my problem.
Do you have to the fuel filter housing mounted lift pump or intank? If you move the key to the on position and then bump the starter, the fuel pump should run for around 30sec. Listen for the fuel pump to run wherever it is. If you have the intake retrofit, you could also listen for the relay to energize.
The 1693 code was the only one that showed up after my truck quit.Had the codes pulled and showed it was the IP.
Never had a minutes problem till then.
I hope that's not your problem.$$$$$$

But yeah, like you said, never one problem. Thanks guys
Well, if you can hear the lift pump running and you still have no fuel pressure at the banjo fitting on the ip, you either have a bad lift pump or restriction before the lift pump, such as clogged pickup or kinked line. Or you could be sucking in air before the pump.
You can't condemn the the injection pump if your supply system isn't getting fuel to it.

Bought a cheap scanner tonight to try to figure out what other codes I have, and all it gave me was p0234 which is the overboost code. I cleared that w/ no change. Don't think it's related to my problem. I got that code once before and it still ran fine.
Well, I got it up and running. It turned out to be the lift pump. Replaced it today, bled the system, and it started up. Glad it didn't take out the IP. Thanks guys for the help and suggestions. Much appreciated!!
