Truck wont start...

ok...on monday i got in the truck and it took a bit longer to start then normal...ie...more then popping right off...anyways..as the week has progressed..it has gotten worse..and now to the point were it will not start

it "wants" to start but wont..

a few things i noticed over the course of the week....the idle(once started) seemed to bounce around....then...it was low on power and would "surge" and be ok again...

i checked the lines for them being loose or cracked....anythign else i am missing??

i was thinking fuel filter...altho it only has 8k on it...what do you all think>??

thanks in advance

What is your fuel pressure? Are there any codes? Do you have fuel?

Pulling the codes would be a big help and you might check with your local Auto Zone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys or local auto parts stores and see if they have a "Loan-A-Tool" type service where you leave a deposite until you bring the scanner back. That would help a bunch.
Have you cracked open any injectors to see if you are getting fuel to them?

Crack open injectors 1,3,and 4. then crank on it for 15 seconds. If no fuel on intake, either there is no fuel to VP or VP is toast. If there is fuel, tight injectors up, and fire it up. It may run rough at first but then smooth out. This sounds more like a VP problem to me.

Fill up your tank and see if it still runs/idles rough. I have another thread regarding air getting into the pick-up tube inside the tank when below 5/8 full.

Your symptoms resemble what I experienced when my VP failed. As mentioned earlier, having codes will determine if the VP is lost. After replacing the VP, I still had a rough idle and power loss untill I replaced the pick-up tube.
