need more info. what year, what trans. modifications if any. check engine light on? last time regular maint was performed (fuel filter mostly.) then we can help also include any codes. can be obtained by doing the key trick. take your key and cycle the ingition without starting 3 times(on,off,on,off,on) and the write down what is displayed on the odometer. answer those and we will get started

Our '01 does the same thing, but only until the engien reaches operating temp and the nit runs fine.
But for the first 5 miuntes it will only do 2Krpm's and go about 20 mph.
We also got a 1693 code?
It might be the IP, but we did not get any of the codes realted to the VP44.
I hope someone can tell us what to do to fix this issue.
I'm not trying to hijack the thread, just adding my realted situation as well.

at the moment sound like an engine limp mode. i know on class 8 they have de-rate and they have shutdown. for example, engine temp goes above X degrees the engine will de-rate and light/flash the check engine light(depending on make)

I was going to say maybe stuck in first gear, but if that was the case he should be able to redline the truck, so I'm gonna guess either the LP went or the VP decided to take a nap.

I am going to look at a '01 that I was told is doing the same thing. I fiqured it was the LP or VP44, if both were shot it wouldn't run at all. Right? If the LP went out and it was running on the VP44 like this, a simple fuel pressure test would tell you. I was planning on bringing a gauge w/ me when I looked at the truck and test fuel PSI before I offered $

Just check the simple things first.
Check Tranny fluid for good color and burnt smell.
Check level warm and running ....in nuetral!
Disconnect the Adrenaline compeletely. They had a problem when first came out.... think it was completely killing the engine but can't remember.
If your was not upgraded (software and hardware) that could be the problem.
P1693 is nothing by itself. Go to Autozone or shop with a full scanner for better code readout.
VP-44's have failed with no codes.... and they can act up a little or a lot before dying. Just another possibility.
What gear is the tranny in at 20 mph/2000 rpm?
I don't believe the Cummins ISB 5.9L has a "limp mode".
The tranny has a limp mode if fluid get too hot. Not sure how it acts when that happens. 'Arren333', got gauges?
