this truck is weird ...

well i had the P0216 and got a new BD OEM Bypass LP, well now i've got a P0230, are these two connected in any way? is there a way to reset the P1693, P0216 and this new P0230 that i have ... Only had it a month and it keeps throwing codes at me and i have no idea where to start. any suggestions will be appriciated! TIA!!!!

-cb

PS .. the truck used to hesitate a little bit before my new LP and now it doesnt do it at all, i still have the "dead" pedal every once in a while, but after depressing the clutch and releaseing it, it goes away?? I've only had it happen once where it wouldnt go away and thankfully i was in a 10mph zone and just stopped, shut it off and restarted and it ran fine for the 60mi drive i had ahead of me ...

also, i'd think the "check engine" light would come on when it throws a new code at me, but it doesn't. Is that normal? today i was just sealing my headlight(since it seems it needs to hydrate itself LOL) and was waiting for the tar to dry before re-installation and i checked the codes and that's when i noticed this new code ..

If you don't have a code reader handy, you can reset the codes by disconnecting the negative battery cables for 30 min. After you disconnect, turn the key to the "ON" position and back to "Off" before you reconnect.

If the 0216 comes back, your VP is probably going out. You could try the APPS reset and recal in the "Tech Facts", but that won't fix a bad VP.

Edit: Your bad LP probably contributed to the VP problem. I don't see gages listed in your sig, but, at least, a FP gage is must on the engines.

If you are having dead pedal and code 0216 you will need a IP. Sorry, but its just the nature of the beast.

yeah, i plan on buying an electronic FP, boost and egt here in the next couple weeks, gotta pay my CC off. i had planned on buying them 3 weeks ago until i did the code check and saw the 0216 and bought the LP instead. I will try the negative battery terminal dis-connect and if that doesn't work, hopefully my friends dad who works for a dealership here in town can clear them out.

dang it! is this also why i only get 12mpg on the highway? and about 7 around town? its not blowing excessive smoke so i didnt think it was burning that much fuel when i test drove it but drove 120 round trip last weekend and used a half-tank.

hopefully i can get some crazy hours the next couple weeks so i can purchase my guages and a new IP here in the next couple weeks.

what's the P0230 mean? i just put the LP on a week and a half ago and it wasn't there then, and last weekend i didnt have time to even t hink about checking the codes so im not sure when it came on, but its been very recent.

Best of luck to you. Mine would not act up for sometimes a couple of weeks. When it did decides to act up it was on the freeway coming back from Colorado with a car on the trailer. Can't begin to describe what a feeling it is to go into dead pedal uphill in the left lane passing a Semi, and having another Semi come up on you fast like he is going to park right on the trailer with my little car.
Once he got passed he showed me some hand signals that I was already familiar with, not that I blame him.

P0230 is lift pump voltage out of range. Dead pedal, poor mileage, and p0216 all point to a failing IP

I purchased my IP at www.mwfi.com. Excellent service, no core deposit, and very competative rates on the pump. I ordered the filter, lift pump, and IP option from them. They also supply the core return shipper.

I've put about 10,000 miles on the new IP with no anomalies. I also purchased a fuel pressure gauge from Geno's garage.

I had no idea about the VP44 reliability issues until mine failed and I started reading this forum.

Glad I'm not the only one that looks for answers after the problem exists.
