Truck Dies when I put it in gear?

Truck Dies when I put it in gear?
Ok guys, here is the problem:
I was driving down the road and started to notice a little hesitation from the truck when comming off of the line. A few stop signs later, there was an obviouse hessitation and go when I applied the the pedal. When I stopped to turn into my driveway the truck died!
It will start in nuetral or park with no problem and I can run it up to 3500 rpm no problem. When I try to place it in gear it dies.
Before it died on me while it was in gear, I think I could hear a distinct wine comming from under the truck.
Is the tranny gone guys?
