Transmission temperature?

I have a Trans. Temp gauge, newly installed. What kind of temperatures are o.k. and what is too hot when towing a moderate load up a steep curvy road?

Mine shows about 150 degrees F unloaded and about 170 with a moderate load. Keep it out of overdrive so it won't hunt and it shouldn't go above 200 or so. You'll get a "CHECK GAUGES" light at or above 233* F for the engine temp. For your auto transmission you'll get a "TRANS TEMP" light at or above 275* F

250 is the danger point on trans oil temps.....it starts to break down over that temp.........

Talking trans temps

When mine goes over 180, I turn on my trans fan!
