Transmission temperature??
Transmission temperature??
I just installed a new isspro transmisson gauge the other day. The sender is mounted on the supply line from the transmission to the heat exchanger cooler on the block. When driving the gauge reads 130 to 160 hwy. intown 150 to 190 degrees when pulling my 9700lbs fw it ranges from 160 to 230 is this normal temperature for the location of the sender?? I heard it will read higher temps. in this location?? 2002 Auto 4x4 quadcab stock.
Those seem high , you do want the sender to be in the hottest spot available .
I'm closer to 90 -110 hwy , sitting at stop light it may climb to 160 , towing ? its been a while but I'd say 30 deg higher on flat , but all this is relative to conditions , what is out side temp , weight being pulled , hill ect.

Normal. The sender is in the hot line if I read the post correct. My temps are 160 hwy in lockup, 180 - 205 stop and go. Up to 230 in town with my trailer in tow non lockup conditions. Back to lockup and 190 real quick.
Now 4wd low on a 20*+ grade 5mph I can see 250, crest the hill and let her cool for a bit.

i have mine in the hot line but my trans temps are usually run pretty hot, i usually run 200 in town, 250 towing and 180-190 highway. it slips bad...time to talk to one of the well known tranny builders.
