Please help calling all transmission guru's

OK so I am screwing around with my adrenaline on level 12, while doing about 60 i was trying to pass a whole lot of cars on the highway, so I floored it which I usually never do soon after that in the upper rpms in OD i felt a popping of some sort and then didn't have OD anymore

Now I feel that I broke it but hope it is fixable

I just adjusted the band inside the trans pan. new gov solenoid and transducer, for other issues which i have since fixed, with a new filter

so my question is how can I tell if OD is toast if thats possible and can I fix it without a total rebuild as money is real tight right, if the trans is toasted I will most likely sell the truck,

If something went "POP" and you lost OD, I doubt it is external or fixable without removing OD unit at least.

can you explain more about the OD unit like how would I remove it? do I need to separate the trans from the block, or can I do this with it in the truck?

From your implied knowledge, it is best turned over to experts. Things that go Pop can also hurt the unknowing badly.

i am able to work on anything and have been doing so for many years from building engines from scratch P&p heads changine clutches building roll cages etc. I am just unsure about the specifics of dodge auto's (any auto for that matter) i know that itwould be best to leave it up to professionals but money and my nature wont allow that. not trying to be smart but i am the kind of guy who believes why pay for something I can fix. and i feel that with someones guidance on here to get me started I would be good and will learn more about something I am unfamiliar with

I dont know where the OD unit is specifically although inanother forum I was given a little info. I am just seeking more if possible

remove drive lines and transfer case, remove overdrive unit, keep track of selective thrust washer and trunion bearing, they may fall out when removing overdrive unit, dissasemble overdrive direct clutch pack and overdrive clutch pack, you will need a press and make a tool or buy one to press down reaction plate and remove snap ring, to remove gear train remove 2 torks screw and plate to get to rear case snapring, look for damage to thrust trunion bearings, planitary gear set and 1 way clutch, when doing press work make sure to have about 6" of travel to release spring, it has 800 Lbs of force so be carfull! o ya there is about 20 wrong ways to put this together so keep track of everything, a service manual is helpfull also

I purchased a Haynes for mine, 18/ 25.00 dollars or there about. I just purchased the factory books (volume 1 &2) for my 01, for $90.00 plus shipping and tax, came to 105, I think. I wasted my money on that Haynes POS at 25% of the cost of the real book. Let me know if you want the info from where I got it. BRO
