Calling all Guru's

I need to ask help from anyone who might know wich direction to point. Here's the deal. I've got a 2001 3500 with some sort of fuel issue. It was running fine when I got to the gravel yard, got loaded up, tried to leave and truck lost power. Let me clarify. Truck starts, idels fine, but when you press the accelerator the truck starts loading up, or "dieseling out" at about 1100 rpm. checked the code from the ignition and it wAS P1693. I replaced the lift pump hoping that would do it...... still same thing. It has a power max 3 unit on it that appears to be functioning corectly. The truck was stranded about 20 miles from home, so I made the decission to try the drive. From 900-1200 rpm it ran as normal. Any more and it would load up.

Is this a bad vp44? I was told that if the injector pump goes the truck will not run at all, is this true. Could the trotle possison sensor be to blame? If so how would you check it.

Some help to lead me in the right direction would be great.

Have you tried running the truck without the powermax to see if it makes any difference?

P1693 is a companion code telling you the ECM has a stored code, you need to get it read.

Sounds like "dead pedal", look for a P0216 for the VP ( there are others as well, I don't know them all )

If it were mine, I would be saving for a VP.
