Transmission swap
Upon further research, since my truck is 2WD, it appears it is a bolt in replacement provided I replace the clutch and pressure plate which I would do anyway. My truck already has the 11 in. crossmember and the driveshaft is apparently the same on 2WD trucks.
Am I missing anything?

Rather than start a new thread, I'll tack this on here for future information.
I just finished installing a 2001 NV5600 in my 1999 Dodge. It had a NV4500. The truck is 2WD and the transmission was out of a 2WD as well. Ordered a 13" flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate from Valair to fit the 1.375 shaft. My truck already had the 11" crossmember and the backup light wire was the correct length. No driveshaft modifications were needed. Everything bolted in place like it was made for it (which it was). The only piece I didn't have was the exhaust pipe mounting bracket that goes on the transmission. I had to fabricate it.
Took about 6 hours to tear apart and 6 hours back together.
I really like the closer spacing of the gears in the 6 speed. I'm having to relearn how to drive the truck, new clutch grabs at a different point and the shift pattern falls at a different place as well.
Looking forward to my first pull of the 5th wheel.

Yes....twice. First time was while we were on vacation, pulling our 5th wheel across Colorado. I had a local shop simply tighten the nut back in order to get home. Knew it would not hold and sure enough, two weeks after arriving home I was moving the trailer and it went out again. That time I ordered a new nut and gear (with the set screws in the nut) and installed it myself. That was at 110,000 miles. Truck now has 137,000 and has been from Texas to Colorado twice with no problem....but I still didn't trust it, that's why it now has the 6 speed. Plus, the 5 speed was rated at 20,000 lbs. and the 6 speed at 26,000 lbs. Truck and trailer weigh 19,500. Gives me more margin for error.
