I just got back from going down to Oklahoma to pick up my goose neck trailer. It's a 35 footer really nice trailer. Anyway when I was about 400 miles away from home the truck started acting funny. When ever you would slow down and try to get back up to speed the truck would shudder really bad this would only happen around 2 grand on the tach. It would only do it with the over drive on. The trailer only weighs about 6,000 pounds so I wasn't pulling anything heavy. If I switched off overdrive it worked fine. I checked the fluid and it was still red and didn't smell bad at all. After I dropped the trailer off where I am keeping it I drove back to the house and it ran fine. I called a transmission shop and they said the TC was going out. If it was the TC wouldn't it do it all the time? Or could it be the bands need adjusted? I bought the truck used with 44,000 miles on it.

 

The shudder is more than likely coming from the tc, but that doesn't mean it's bad yet. I could be a number of things. Contact Bill at http://www.dieseltrans.com and ask on the forum section or give them a call. Can also pm AlpineRam and he would also give you some insite on this problem. I got the same problem and then some. Going to order some DTT parts and fix the problem for good! DTT can also setup your trans for towing if you do it alot.
