transmission help!

my dads 99' has a rebuilt 47re thats is just over a year old. last saturday he backed over a 5 gal. bucket and after about a 5 mile trip and about two hours of setting he went to drive down the road and it wouldn't shift. then he said it finally shifted and he made it home but now it won't shift at all. i checked for codes and got a p0720, and the scanner said there had been 7 starts since fault code was detected. so i changed the speed sensor on trans. no change. i also drove the truck around the block with the scanner plugged in and it showed no gov. pressure, so my question is do i need to change the gov. press. switch and transducer in the valve body?

Start from the start Check fluid level, and check condition of fluid.

If it says there's no governor pressure perhaps see if the the pressure regulator valve is stuck. If it's stuck closed you'll have no shifts and no pressure to the governor.

Throttle pressure may still exist because of throttle linkage and spring tension.

If it is the governor you can take the governor out and see if the wieghts fell off or if it's gear is worn.

Governor pressure must overcome Throttle pressure to up shift.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You'll be glad didn't back over a 20 gallon barrel. They are real tranny killers. I assume you looked for damaged wiring when replaced the RPM sensor. A grounded or broken wire in harness cause. Could the bucket have pinched a cooler line??
